Hybrid SATCOM Approach (HSA)

Flight-proven airborne platform with multi-band/network/orbit satellite connectivity
Modular, mobile, mission-ready

As the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) adopts a hybrid architecture for its communications, delivering global high-capacity coverage with roaming across satellite frequency bands, networks, and orbits becomes a critical requirement. Viasat’s HSA is flight-proven and meets the need to rapidly install Beyond Line of Sight (BLoS) capabilities on aircraft for near-term mission specifications:

  • Open standard, modular installation
  • Operates over commercial and military satellite constellations in GEO, MEO, HEO, and LEO orbits
  • Can connect to L-, Ku-, and Ka-bands
  • Fully automated Primary, Alternate, Contingency, and Emergency (Auto-PACE) solution
  • Multi-band, multi-network, multi-orbit

Viasat's team works consistently to extend the value and capabilities of its HSA innovation for U.S. government customers.

These solutions include:

  • Standardized Airbone ARINC 791-conforming installation solution for faster, easier and more cost-efficient technology
  • A universal Roll On/Roll Off (RORO) system for the in vehicle equipment that can be moved between HSA enabled aircraft for fleet flexibility and sustainment
  • New BLOS as a Service models that include aircraft integration, hardware, multi-network/constellation service, repair activity and sparing
