Carlsbad, Calif. – ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), an innovator in satellite and other wireless networking systems and services, announced financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2012. The fiscal first quarter results include new contract awards of $253.6 million, revenues of $195.1 million, Adjusted EBITDA of $36.1 million and net income attributable to ViaSat common stockholders of $0.17 per share on a diluted non-GAAP basis or $0.04 per share on a diluted GAAP basis.
Carlsbad, Calif. – ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT) has announced that construction of the ViaSat-1 high-capacity satellite is complete and that the spacecraft is being prepared for shipment to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. ViaSat-1 is now scheduled for launch by International Launch Services (ILS) aboard a Proton rocket during the last week in September.

The StarOne C1 satellite is providing the bandwidth and a ViaSat regional teleport has been installed and commissioned in Rio de Janeiro. The new region of the network is operational for maritime and aviation customers of the Yonder network.
United Continental Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: UAL) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Continental Airlines has executed a letter of intent with inflight entertainment provider LiveTV to offer inflight Wi-Fi via Ka-band beginning next year. Now the world's largest airline following the merger, the company will use the ViaSat Ka-band in-flight Internet access system over ViaSat-1, which will be the world's highest-capacity satellite upon its launch later in 2011.

The delay provides additional time for repair and testing after the satellite was damaged while being moved during the testing process. All costs related to the repair and re-testing of the satellite are being assumed by the manufacturer of ViaSat-1, Space Systems/Loral, a subsidiary of Loral Space & Communications Inc.
