ViaSat-3 Flight 2 (VS-3 F2) - the second of three VS-3 satellites – is scheduled to launch from Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. It will liftoff aboard an Atlas V 551 rocket provided by United Launch Alliance (ULA) no earlier than November 3, 2025, pending range approval.
Once in service, VS-3 F2 is expected to more than double the bandwidth capacity of Viasat’s entire existing fleet and marks a significant milestone in our satellite roadmap.
The VS-3 constellation is comprised of three Ka-band satellites, each designed to be capable of rapidly shifting capacity throughout its coverage area to deliver bandwidth where and when it’s needed most. This is important to meet the increasing demand of commercial, consumer, and defense customers, where the location of high-demand hotspots can change over the course of the day. The VS-3s are geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) satellites, located about 22,236 miles above the equator.
Launched in 2023, VS-3 F1 continues to serve Viasat’s airline customers after entering service in 2024, delivering fast in-flight Wi-Fi for an exceptional passenger experience.
VS-3 F2 is designed to add more than 1 Tbps capacity to our network over the Americas, with anticipated service entry in early 2026.
VS-3 F3 is expected to bring the same throughput to the Asia-Pacific region and is anticipated to launch and come into service in 2026.
The ultra-high-capacity VS-3 constellation is expected to deliver extensive benefits to our commercial, consumer, and defense customers across the globe, including enhanced network efficiency, performance, user experience, coverage, capacity, flexibility, and cost.
The VS-3 constellation is expected to expand and enhance our Viasat AMARA in-flight connectivity solution, helping airlines deliver next-level experiences that improve the passenger experience and drive new lines of revenue.
For business aviation, it is expected to further elevate our JetXP solution for an even greater standard of seamless, high-performance connectivity from takeoff to touchdown.
VS-3 offers a clear upgrade path for our maritime customers as part of NexusWave's fully managed bonded connectivity service.
This next-generation ultra-high-capacity, high-speed service is designed to significantly enhance the 'office-like' and 'home-like' internet experience onboard vessels.
VS-3 is the next generation of commercial SATCOM reimagined for modern mission advantage, delivering high-throughput, flexible satellite connectivity that can help exceed performance, security, and resiliency requirements for our government partners across land, sea, air, and space.
The VS-3 constellation will help deliver fast, reliable internet to more homes and small businesses in rural communities around the world.
With its advanced GEO Ka-band network capabilities, VS-3 represents a key element of our growing open, scalable, multi-network, multi-band architecture to deliver world-class connectivity experiences for customers well into the future and meet rising global demand for space-based services.
Underpinned by our advanced network, we are also creating hybrid, multi-orbit services that simultaneously blend the advantages of different orbits, including NexusWave for maritime customers and Viasat Amara for the aviation industry.
Alongside VS-3 F2 and F3, we plan to have an additional six satellites enter service over the coming years - GX-7, 8, 9 satellites and three Inmarsat-8 satellites.
