Viasat and TiVo Partner to Bring Connected TV Experiences via Satellite
The collaboration between Viasat and TiVo introduces a fully connected TV platform for satellite-served households worldwide
DENVER, Colo., June 16, 2026 – Viasat, Inc. , a global leader in satellite communications, today announced a strategic partnership with TiVo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Xperi Inc., to integrate the TiVo operating system (OS) as the connected TV (CTV) platform across Viasat-delivered services worldwide. The collaboration enables Viasat to deliver streaming services across its global satellite customer base through TiVo’s independent, content-centric CTV operating system. The announcement, made at the StreamTV Show in Denver, marks a major step toward bringing streaming television experiences to satellite-served markets around the world.
The first-of-its-kind partnership combines satellite infrastructure with a proven streaming platform to extend reach into markets where traditional broadband access remains limited, enabling content providers to access previously underserved audiences through a single configuration while opening new, premium advertising inventory in these regions. The collaboration positions Viasat as a connected TV platform operator, building on its core connectivity expertise. Viasat is also evaluating deployment across its aviation and maritime businesses, further expanding the platform’s potential reach.
“Our mission has always been to connect the unconnected. With TiVo as our smart TV operating system, we’re uniquely positioned to bring satellite-delivered content into the streaming era and deliver rich, large-screen streaming experiences to new users worldwide,” said Mike Kreller, Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Viasat. “Content providers already integrated with TiVo can seamlessly extend their reach across our global satellite footprint without additional development.”
“Viasat’s global reach allows us to bring the content-rich, highly personalized, and easy-to-use TiVo OS experience to entirely new markets that traditional connected TV platforms have not served,” said Geir Skaaden, Chief Product Officer at Xperi. “Content providers and advertisers already working with TiVo can now extend into satellite-served regions with no additional connected TV integration, unlocking new audiences and monetization opportunities.”
