Viasat unlocks 5X capacity boost for business aviation in-flight connectivity over the United States

CARLSBAD, Calif., 02 September, 2025 - Viasat Inc., a global leader in satellite communications, today announced that its JetXP business aviation in-flight broadband service is now delivering five times more capacity across the Eastern United States, with a phased nationwide expansion in the coming months.

All Viasat’s business aviation customers using the Honeywell JetWave or Gogo Plane Simple Ka-band terminals are benefitting from the capacity boost for an even greater connectivity experience, supporting data-hungry applications - such as high-definition video conferencing, content streaming and generative AI – on multiple devices at the same time. For JetWave customers, the performance can be further optimized by adopting the terminal's latest software version, further details of which can be obtained from their service provider.

This step-change in performance has already received a hugely positive response from customers travelling on busy flight routes over major eastern US hubs. A Large Cabin Gulfstream operator recently reported: “We have flown several legs since the additional capacity and new software was launched, and the Wi-Fi performance has been truly outstanding – greatly enhancing all of our online needs. We also appreciate that the software upgrade was fast and seamless, enabling our connectivity experience to be fully optimized.”

The development was achieved as part of Viasat’s business aviation enhancement program, with improvements such as uncapped speeds, increased network prioritization, and optimized satellite asset management.

Kai Tang, Head of Business Aviation at Viasat, said: “JetXP already delivers our best ever in-flight broadband experience for business aviation by unleashing the full power of our global Ka-band network. We’re excited to now introduce our highest ever capacity increase over the United States for business aviation customers in direct response to their specific requirements. This is only possible due to Viasat’s dense capacity and flexibility, marking yet another example of our continuous innovation and focus on customer experience.”

JetXP was launched under a year ago, bringing together the legacy Jet ConneX and Viasat Ka services under one unified brand. It has been developed following extensive consultation with customers, partners and research agencies. The results, together with detailed analysis of usage trends, indicated that expectations around business aviation connectivity have evolved considerably. Traditional speed-based plans are now outdated and instead, customers have broadened their focus to the overall experience, which is JetXP’s key differentiator.

“Our most sophisticated users recognize that the overall experience matters more than simple speed tests and that’s where JetXP really excels,” added Tang. “It successfully builds on Viasat’s market reputation for providing consistent, reliable and high-performance global connectivity, complemented by the concierge customer service and 24/7 support of our trusted business aviation distribution partners - Collins Aerospace, Gogo and Honeywell.”

This is only possible due to Viasat’s dense capacity and flexibility, marking yet another example of our continuous innovation and focus on customer experience.
