(NASDAQ: VSAT), a producer of innovative satellite and other wireless communications and networking systems, today announced results for its fiscal year 2008 second quarter, including record revenues of $146.6 million and new net contract awards of $189.5 million for the quarter ended September 28, 20071. ViaSat reported net income of $0.35 per share on a diluted non-GAAP2 basis or $0.27 per share on a diluted GAAP basis.

Carlsbad, CA – ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq:VSAT) received its first order for AN/PSC-14s from the U.S. Air Force 36th Contingency Response Group. The AN/PSC-14 combines Inmarsat IP-based Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) technology with ViaSat AltaSec® IP inline encryption equipment to create a portable, ruggedized BGAN user terminal capable of both secure and non-secure operation.
New capabilities include Link 16 waveforms
Carlsbad, CA – ViaSat Inc. received a $18.3 million (with options to $20.9 million) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract from the U.S. Air Force in support of continued development of the Joint Communication Simulator (JCS). This award extends the JCS capabilities at three locations to include Link 16, new operating modes, and other new CNI signals. The award covers task orders for JCS feature development in support of Air Force and Navy avionics system testing through 2013.
Duluth, GA – ViaSat Inc. and Verso Technologies have successfully tested a satellite backhaul system for GSM mobile communications that can cut the cost of GSM backhaul through more efficient use of satellite bandwidth. The system combines ViaSat LinkStar® satellite communications networking and Verso NetPerformer® technology. The satellite GSM backhaul system was successfully tested in a GSM network in Papua New Guinea for Telikom PNG Ltd.
Carlsbad, CA – ViaSat Inc. has won a delivery order valued at $2.4 million for Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) terminals in support of the Republic of Korea. The 24-month contract, beginning in May, 2008, includes four LVT(11) ground-based Low Volume Terminals and associated support equipment.
Distribution agreements have been signed which mark the extension of the service into France, Spain, and Bulgaria.

Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) and ViaSat today announced that the consumer broadband satellite service they are partnering to offer in Europe will be rolling out next month in Germany, with other selected European markets to follow before the end of the year. The service will be similar to the WildBlue service and use our SurfBeam® satellite DOCSIS system. The announcement was made earlier today at the IFA show in Berlin.

Carlsbad, CA – ViaSat Inc. has won a delivery order valued at approximately $44.9 million for Multifunctional Information Distribution System terminals from The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), San Diego. By gathering information into a digital view of the battlefield, MIDS provides greater situational awareness in combat for the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and for U.S. defense partners. The secure, high capacity, jam resistant wireless (non-satellite) system connects users with both digital data and voice communications.
Global Energy Services Ltd. has been selected by one of North America’s major oil and gas exploration and production companies to provide the communications network for remote oil and gas exploration sites in western Canada. RAMTelecom Inc. will use its LinkStar VSAT hub to provide communication services for the Global Energy network.

These awards are for non-recurring terminal engineering, terminals to support government air worthiness testing, and the first lot of MIDS JTRS production transition terminals. The award is from the Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), San Diego.

Certification means the ViaSat EBEM can be used on all DSCS satellite networks, is interoperable with legacy modems, and can operate in advanced spectrum efficient modes.

Duluth, GA – ViaSat Inc. will provide a 7.3 meter antenna system to the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) of Daejeon, South Korea for receiving satellite imagery (remote sensing) and satellite Telemetry, Tracking & Command (TT&C). ViaSat Antenna Systems will install one 7.3 meter antenna system at the KARI headquarters site in Daejeon with a ViaSat dual-band feed for X-band data reception and S-band monitor and control. KARI will use the antenna system to support the on-going development of the KOMPSAT (Korean Multi-purpose Satellite) series of satellites.
