Viasat's Todd McDonell, President of International Government at Viasat, accepts the UK MoD ERS Gold Award on February 20th in London.
CARLSBAD, Calif., and LONDON, United Kingdom, Feb. 24, 2025 – Viasat, Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), a global leader in satellite communications, announced today it has been recognised by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) with a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award as part of the company’s commitments under the UK Armed Forces Covenant.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment made by organisations of all types to provide support for members of the armed forces community through employment, education, financial assistance or access to critical services. The Defence ERS encourages employers to pledge support for defence and inspire other organizations to do the same, while fostering a culture of understanding and appreciation for the sacrifices made by Armed Forces personnel and their families. The ERS awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold) serve to recognise organisations’ commitments going above and beyond for the armed forces community and alignment of company values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
Viasat and Inmarsat, which was acquired in May of 2023, had each previously affirmed commitments to support UK military personnel, reservists, veterans and their families by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
“We are proud to continue demonstrating our commitment under the UK Armed Forces Covenant by supporting UK veterans in keeping with the core values,” said Todd McDonell, President of International Government at Viasat. “Viasat has hundreds of veterans and military family members working in our offices around the world, making the armed forces community an indispensable part of our team. We’re honoured to receive the ERS Gold Award designation and will continue to offer meaningful employment options and support for those who are transitioning from the military to civilian life by helping to use their talents and experience for positive contributions to the business community.”
Viasat has a long history of supporting military veterans. The Armed Forces Covenant and ERS Gold Award are further demonstrations of this continued commitment for veterans and military families everywhere through employment opportunities, career development and transition workshops. The U.S. Department of Labor recognised Viasat with a 2023 HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award, which recognises companies that invest in recruiting and retaining veterans, as well as offering veteran-specific skills development and leadership programs. Viasat was also included for the fourth consecutive year as a top employer for veterans by Military Times’ 2024 Best for Vets: Employers List, which highlights the best employers and organizations with military-connected employment programs, benefits and support efforts.
