IoT Direct is our narrowband non-terrestrial network (NB-NTN) IoT enabled service built on Viasat's L-band network using 3GPP standards.

Partners are developing a broad range of chipsets, modules and devices which can be embedded into proprietary devices, vehicles and things. Incorporating seamless switching between cellular and satellite services, it is challenging existing notions of how satellite can be implemented as part of a connectivity solution.

Leveraging our relationships with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), going forward we are enabling seamless cellular and satellite switching from one SIM. With IP and non-IP messaging formats and small messages delivered in under 20 seconds; you can minimize satcom costs on the majority of mass market applications.

IoT Direct currently available for partner testing only.

Benefits
1

Seamless end user experience: Stay connected everywhere with roaming between cellular and satellite.

2

Massive scale: deploy with virtually no limits for IoT control applications at mass-market scale.

3

World-class reliability: operates on our rock-solid tried-and-tested L-band network; built for industrial IoT applications and successfully developed to support global scale applications.

4

Affordability: Low hardware costs with subscription-based service plans, no minimum connection fee, and minimum billing increments.

Flexible service plans

For customers using Viasat SIMs we offer flexible service plans for low volume devices and SIM pooling, as well as high volume shared plans.

Working with our MNO and MVNO partners we offer roaming partner plans. These include consumer and industrial plan models aligned to devices that access and attach to the network, and their usage.

A wide variety of open standard hardware

We offer a broad range of certified compatible modules, chipsets and antennas from partners such as Quectel, Qualcomm and Murata for incorporating into solutions.

We also offer a growing range of hardware devices developed by our channel partners who have already built modules and antennas into stand-alone hardware offerings for off-the-shelf deployments.
