Backed by the new ViaSat-3 Flight 2 satellite, Viasat is introducing redesigned residential internet plans built to deliver faster speeds, less congestion and more options for households of every size. Here’s a first look at what’s coming.
What is ViaSat-3, and why does it matter for your internet service?
ViaSat-3 is Viasat’s newest satellite generation. It is designed to significantly increase bandwidth across the continental U.S.
Once the ViaSat-3 Flight 2 satellite is online, Viasat’s residential network is expected to bring much more capacity, leading to a better customer experience.
In practical terms, that means fast, reliable speeds — and a network that can handle more users at once without the slowdowns that congestion can cause. For households that depend on satellite internet as their primary connection, that’s a meaningful step forward.
Current Viasat customers on existing plans will stay on their current satellite service — moving to a ViaSat-3 service plan requires new equipment and a new professional installation, so it isn't an automatic switch.
That said, the ViaSat-3 Flight 2 launch is good news for current customers either way: as new customers join the expanded VS3 network, capacity frees up on the other satellites. ViaSat-3 will also be able to redirect capacity to help better serve demand as it changes over time.
This means less congestion and better overall performance for everyone already on the Viasat network — no equipment swap required.

Who is Viasat Unleashed Max designed for?
Unleashed Max is built for households that need their internet to keep up with everything — gaming, video calls, streaming on multiple screens, smart home devices, working from home and everything in between. It’s the plan for households where being offline simply isn’t an option.
What sets Unleashed Max apart is priority network access. During peak hours, when more customers are online at the same time, the network gives Unleashed Max customers higher priority. That means you’re less likely to notice slowdowns during busy evening hours, which is often when it matters most.
Unleashed Max also includes EasyCare, Viasat’s equipment and service protection plan (a $9.99/mo. value), at no extra charge.
Will Viasat’s new plans still offer unlimited data?
Yes — all three plans include unlimited data, so you won’t lose your connection when you need it most.
Essentials customers receive 150 GB of High-Speed Data each month. Once that data usage threshold is used, service continues with unlimited Standard Data, which may be slower during periods of network congestion. For months when you need a little more speed, a Data Boost add-on is available.
Unleashed and Unleashed Max both include unlimited High-Speed Data. The difference is in how that data is prioritized when the network is at its busiest. In this new lineup of plans, Unleashed Max customers receive the highest network priority, which is designed to deliver a more consistent experience during peak periods.
When will the new Viasat plans be available?
The new plans, including Unleashed Max, are expected to be available soon for new and qualifying existing customers. Availability varies by location, and not all plans are available in all areas.

Limited-time promotional offer is available only to new residential internet customers who purchase and eligible service plan. The discount is applicable during your first 12 months of service and applies only to the standard monthly internet service fee, and excludes the monthly equipment lease fee, monthly fee for add-on services and all taxes and surcharges. After your twelfth month, regular rates apply. To receive the discount, you must remain an active subscriber on an eligible plan and maintain your account in good standing.
