As a technology partner of the Bridge Alliance, Viasat will work alongside the alliance's network of mobile operators to extend reliable, high-performance satellite connectivity

CARLSBAD., Calif., OCTOBER 29, 2026 – Viasat, Inc., a global leader in satellite technology, today announced it has become a Technology Partner of the Bridge Alliance, the leading global alliance of premier mobile network operators across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.

The partnership represents Viasat's growing footprint in Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) solutions. The company already enables satellite connectivity for more than 10 million handsets in North America and leads a range of industry initiatives across the NTN ecosystem, including world-first technical demonstrations for NTN connectivity in consumer mobile and automotive applications with collaborators like BMW.

As a technology partner of the Bridge Alliance, Viasat will work alongside the alliance's network of mobile operators to extend reliable, high-performance satellite connectivity for consumers, businesses, and governments operating in regions where terrestrial coverage alone cannot meet growing data demands.

"Joining Bridge Alliance as a Technology Partner allows us to bring our satellite technology directly into an ecosystem that already helps to serve hundreds of millions of subscribers across some of the world's fast-growing markets," said Kevin Cohen, Vice President, Business Development, New Ventures at Viasat. "As enterprises and governments demand connectivity that doesn't stop at the edge of a cellular network, Viasat can work within Bridge’s ecosystem to deliver advanced new direct to device services.”

Antoine Cloué, Vice President, Technology Management and Operations at Bridge Alliance, added: "Viasat's satellite expertise complements our member operators’ terrestrial strengths. This partnership reflects the industry's broader shift toward integrated non-terrestrial and terrestrial network strategies, and will create new opportunities for our members to potentially offer their customers a level of coverage continuity that neither satellite nor mobile networks can achieve alone."

The move builds on a broader industry trend of convergence between satellite and mobile network operators built on interoperable 3GPP standards, with initial features targeting emergency SOS and simple messaging applications. Future 3GPP Future releases are expected to pave the way for 5G-New Radio (5G-NR) satellite services, which could support uninterrupted mobility and roaming between terrestrial and satellite networks.

Viasat is a platinum sponsor for the upcoming Bridge Alliance CXO Forum 2026, taking place on Monday, 2 November 2026 at the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach. Viasat’s Tim Daly will be taking part in panel session Beyond the Grid: The New Frontier of Enterprise IoT. Find out more.
