CARLSBAD, Calif., April 15, 2026 – Viasat Inc, a global leader in satellite communications, today at Aircraft Interiors Expo provided an update on its in-flight connectivity partnership with Vueling – with more than 1 million sessions providing an upgraded, fast, and free in-flight Wi-Fi aboard the airlines’ connected A320 fleet.
Vueling, in collaboration with Viasat, started offering the complimentary service to customers in October 2025, leveraging the European Aviation Network (EAN) and Viasat’s innovative digital platform to provide enhanced connectivity, entertainment, and 3D interactive map across more than 80 aircraft.
With Viasat’s suite of connected digital services, including ad-sponsored sessions, Vueling is adopting a connectivity model that supports the evolution of the airline experience of cost-conscious carriers. With a 13 percentage points increase in customer satisfaction related to in-flight Wi-Fi, Vueling customers are enjoying the free, fast Wi-Fi experience.
“Staying connected and entertained while in-flight is increasingly an expectation from Vueling’s customers,” said Melanie Berry, Vueling’s Chief Customer Officer. “We set about creating a platform with Viasat that makes it easy to access content and services from any personal device throughout the flight. In doing so, we have been able to deliver a great experience for our customers, resulting in increased passenger satisfactions scores.”
Adding Value and Satisfaction Through In-Flight Connectivity
Viasat provides Vueling customers with enhanced speed and performance enabling high quality video and audio streaming, gaming, social media and more onboard.
“It has been an incredible journey collaborating on a new approach to ad-supported in-flight Wi-Fi and onboard services with Vueling,” said Meherwan Polad, Chief Commercial Officer, Viasat Commercial. “This free service is powered by a combination of Viasat’s digital products, resulting in a bold, creative, and valuable new approach for in-flight connectivity. The fact we’re already seeing so many customers connect, and really enjoy their experience, is testament to our close partnership with Vueling and to the demand for innovative and exciting onboard connectivity.”
Enhanced Connectivity on European Aviation Network
Vueling’s enhanced onboard connectivity is delivered via the European Aviation Network (EAN). Powered by Viasat’s S-band satellite and a complementary ground network operated by Deutsche Telekom, and featuring low-drag hardware, EAN is designed to support streaming and other high-bandwidth digital experiences. As a uniquely European system, integrating a satellite and complementary ground components, the EAN provides a pan-European in-flight connectivity experience and is designed to scale -- enabling airlines like Vueling to offer Viasat’s suite of connectivity, entertainment, and ad-supported digital services to customers across Europe.
