Changing your Wi-Fi Password and SSID
Viasat Wi-Fi Gateway
- To access the modem interface:
- Type https://viasatrouter.com in your browser URL bar
- Note: If a Security Error appears click Advance and Continue to site
- At the top of the screen click Wi-Fi Settings tab
- The Router Login screen will appear, enter your modem username and password. If you have never created your own username and password, the modem credentials are:
- Username: admin
- Password: Use the admin password or key from the sticker on the bottom of the modem
- Update the Network Name (SSID) and Password field with the desired Network Name and write down the changes
- The password should be hard for a stranger to guess, but something you can remember. If you like, you can also rename your Wi-Fi network. Here are the password requirements:
- Minimum 8 characters long
- Must contain uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, and special character
- Special character cannot be the last character
- Cannot contain variants of “password” (pass, word, w0rd, etc.)
- Cannot contain satellite related terms (sat, s@t, etc.)
- This modem broadcasts on two bands: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Set both of the bands to have the same network name and password. Click HERE to learn more

- Click save changes. All devices will need to be reconnected to Wi-Fi using the new SSID and password

- To access the modem interface:

- Enter your modem user name and password
- If you have never created your own username and password, the credentials are:
- Username: admin
- Password: Use the admin password or key from the sticker on the bottom of the modem

- Click the Sign In button
- At the top of the screen click Wi-Fi Settings tab
