Changing your Wi-Fi Password and SSID

  1. To access the modem interface:
    1. Type https://viasatrouter.com in your browser URL bar
    2. Note: If a Security Error appears click Advance and Continue to site
  2. At the top of the screen click Wi-Fi Settings tab
  3. The Router Login screen will appear, enter your modem username and password. If you have never created your own username and password, the modem credentials are:
    1. Username: admin
    2. Password: Use the admin password or key from the sticker on the bottom of the modem
  4. Update the Network Name (SSID) and Password field with the desired Network Name and write down the changes
    1. The password should be hard for a stranger to guess, but something you can remember. If you like, you can also rename your Wi-Fi network. Here are the password requirements:
      1. Minimum 8 characters long
      2. Must contain uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, and special character
      3. Special character cannot be the last character
      4. Cannot contain variants of “password” (pass, word, w0rd, etc.)
      5. Cannot contain satellite related terms (sat, s@t, etc.)
    2. This modem broadcasts on two bands: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Set both of the bands to have the same network name and password. Click HERE to learn more
  5. Click save changes. All devices will need to be reconnected to Wi-Fi using the new SSID and password

  1. To access the modem interface:
    1. Type https://viasatrouter.com in your browser URL bar
  2. Enter your modem user name and password
    1. If you have never created your own username and password, the credentials are:
      1. Username: admin
      2. Password: Use the admin password or key from the sticker on the bottom of the modem
  3. Click the Sign In button
  4. At the top of the screen click Wi-Fi Settings tab
  5. Update the Network Name (SSID) and Password field with the desired Network Name and write down the changes
