Invoice Itemization and Fee Descriptions

This article provides a list of fees associated with Viasat's invoices.

  • The Monthly Lease Fee covers the lease of equipment needed to deliver internet connectivity to your home.

  • Monthly Internet Plan Charges are listed by plan and date period, and they reflect what you are charged each month for internet service only.  If the charge is a promotional/introductory rate, you will see a notation below the plan name.

Monthly Voice Plan Charges are listed by plan and date period, and they reflect what you are charged each month for voice service only.  If the charge is a promotional/introductory rate, you will see a notation below the plan name.

 

Product and other service charges are listed by name and date period.  They may include optional add-ons you have selected like EasyCare, Office Hours, or Shield Premium.

 

  • The Lifetime Lease Fee is a one-time fee option that covers the lease of the required equipment for as long as you remain a customer using that equipment. Lifetime Lease may need to be renewed if you switch equipment or service plans. Equipment will still need to be returned if service is cancelled.  Lifetime Lease is not available on some plans.
  • Installation Fee covers the cost of installing the required equipment for service and will vary based on your location and credit status.
  • The Activation Fee for business internet customers covers the initial administrative costs of setting up the business internet service.
  • The Early Termination Fee is assessed if you cancel prior to the end of your minimum service term.  This is calculated based on how many months are remaining in your contract minimum service term at the time you terminated your service.
  • One Time Charges and Adjustments may also include optional add-ons you have purchased, like Data Boost, or they may reflect one-time billing or other adjustments.

 

Internet, Other Services, One Time Fees & Adjustments

  • The Administrative Cost Recovery Fee is a monthly surcharge imposed on all Viasat subscribers. This surcharge is not a tax or government charge. It aims to recover certain internal costs and expenses incurred by Viasat to conduct its billing operations and comply with proper billing practices.  A portion of this surcharge also recovers some of Viasat’s costs to implement, administer, and comply with various requirements involving local taxation and licensing as applicable. The surcharge is subject to change from time to time as the cost of compliance changes.

     

  • Local and state government taxes and fees will vary based upon your location, but may include Federal, State, County, District, and/or City sales and other taxes and surcharges.  These may be required depending upon where you live and are set by your federal, state, or local governments.

 

Voice Service

  • The Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee is a monthly surcharge imposed on Viasat’s subscribers to interconnected VoIP service. This fee is not a tax or government charge. It aims to recover some of the costs Viasat incurs for expenses such as, but not limited to, federal and state regulatory and license fees, fees to fund telecommunications services for the speech and hearing-impaired and costs associated with North American Numbering Plan administration. The fee also recovers a portion of internal costs and expenses incurred by Viasat to implement, administer, and comply with federal, state and local regulations and programs. The fee is subject to change from time to time as the cost of compliance changes.
  • Local and state government taxes and fees will vary based upon your location, but may include Federal, State, County, District, and/or City sales, 911 and other taxes and surcharges. These may be required depending upon where you live and are set by your federal, state, or local governments.
