Leveraging commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) based technologies, ViaSat embeddable security offers complete programmable cryptographic modules protecting sensitive (FIPS 140-2 compliant) to US DoD classified communications. Our embeddable crypto modules are used in a wide range of military, government, and commercial applications and have been optimized for embedment in systems that have low size, weight, and power requirements.
COTS-Based “Security System on a Chip”
Delivering more than just a crypto engine, ViaSat embeddable security modules provide an entire cryptographic system that includes key management, memory, power conditioning, IP optimization, zeroization, trusted bypass, and control. All of this capability is packed into a single module that fits in the palm of your hand.
Based on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology, our embeddable security modules are truly programmable and can scale to your specific security requirements. The flexible FPGA-design enables the embeddable crypto module to evolve over time, without hardware changes.
Proven Crypto Modules
We have a long history of securing classified information for government (NSA Type 1) and commercial (FIPS 140-2) organizations worldwide. At the core of ViaSat embeddable security is the PSIAM™ crypto architecture that is field-proven in multiple U.S. DoD-certified information assurance platforms.
- MIDS JTRS Leveraging the PSIAM architecture, we designed a crypto subsystem for the MIDS JTRS Link 16 terminal. This multi-channel, multi-security-level software-defined radio received NSA Type 1 certification and is used by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force.
- FAB-T Boeing selected us – and PSIAM – to provide security for the FAB-T (Family of Advanced Beyond Line-of-Sight Terminals) radio system, which is designed to enable secure military information exchange between ground, airborne, and space platforms.
- Navy CDLS As a subcontractor to Cubic, we provided the networking, encryption, and antenna for the CDL Navy program. We embedded second party crypto chips into the PSIAM design to provide a cost-effective CDL system for the Navy.
