Duluth, GA – ViaSat Inc. and Verso Technologies have successfully tested a satellite backhaul system for GSM mobile communications that can cut the cost of GSM backhaul through more efficient use of satellite bandwidth. The system combines ViaSat LinkStar® satellite communications networking and Verso NetPerformer® technology. The satellite GSM backhaul system was successfully tested in a GSM network in Papua New Guinea for Telikom PNG Ltd.
Global Energy Services Ltd. has been selected by one of North America’s major oil and gas exploration and production companies to provide the communications network for remote oil and gas exploration sites in western Canada. RAMTelecom Inc. will use its LinkStar VSAT hub to provide communication services for the Global Energy network.

ViaSat Inc. has delivered two satellite communication system hubs based on the new, more efficient DVB-S2 global standard. The new DVB-S2 waveform offers up to 30% greater bandwidth efficiency substantially reducing network operating costs. ViaSat hub-based LinkStar S2 and mesh architecture LinkWay S2 VSAT systems are interoperable as well, enabling powerful and flexible hybrid star/mesh network configurations. The customers using the new S2 systems are an Internet service provider in New Zealand and a major stock exchange in China.
Carlsbad, CA – ViaSat Inc. has obtained a Certificate of Compliance for its LinkStar® VSAT system from SatLabs, the group tasked with certifying the interoperability of satellite terminal products using the Digital Video Broadcast Return Channel Satellite (DVB-RCS) standard. The tests verify that the LinkStar broadband satellite terminal complies with the standard and is able to interoperate with other DVB-RCS systems. The LinkStar terminal passed all DVB-RCS qualification tests in one day at the SatLabs certification facilities located at CETECOM in Germany.

The UNASAT SurfBeam network provides seamless access to advanced broadband data and VOIP (voice over IP) services.
