How do I apply?
The first step is to create a profile so you can apply for open positions and track positions you’ve applied for. Once you have completed your profile you will be able to attach your resume.
How long does it take to create a profile?
If you have your resume ready to upload it takes about 10 minutes to answer a few of our questions and create your candidate profile. Once this is completed you can apply to any opening.
What happens to my candidate profile?
Your candidate profile will be used to evaluate your skills and experience against the requirements for positions you have expressed interest in. The information in your account will remain confidential to Viasat. It will only be shared with members of our Talent Acquisition and Hiring Team who would be overseeing the position(s) you have applied for.
Also, our database is the first place we search when a new position opens so with a profile in place we can directly reach out to you for jobs that would be a potential match.
You should get an automated email response after you submit your resume confirming we have received it. We wish we could respond to all applicants, but the volume of resumes does not allow us to provide this courtesy.
Apply to positions that you find yourself qualified. Please use your best judgment when applying and be sure pay close attention to the job description and requirements. You may apply to multiple positions (up to 5 during a thirty day period).
Your profile will be reviewed against the position's qualifications. If it is determined that there is a match, a member of our Talent Acquisition Team will contact you to schedule a phone screen. A phone interview followed by further interviews with the hiring team could be next steps after this.
Given our large volume of interviews, candidates are often contacted via email to arrange the logistics of the interview. Our Talent Acquisition Team will do their best to accommodate your schedule and book your travel/hotel if necessary. If you have any questions during this process, contact telephone numbers are listed on all email correspondence. Feel free to give us a call.
During our onsite interviews you will be meeting with various members of the hiring team. This method is designed to give candidates a 360 degree view of the department and the role. During this part of the process we will start your references and background check with your consent.
Interviews styles vary from group to group and change significantly depending on the role you are seeking and the teams you are meeting with. The majority of interviewers aim to get a grasp of your technical skills while also asking questions to get to know who you are and how you communicate. In addition to technical questioning, some interviewers utilize behavioral interviewing methods. In this case, you should be prepared with some concrete examples that will illustrate situations when you have successfully solved problems or performed memorably.
Occasionally, groups will opt for a panel interview that will include several members of the company interviewing you collectively. Your Recruiter will be able to clarify if this will apply to your interview.
After the Onsite Interview
We aim to get back to candidates within a week of an interview. Feel free to reach out to your Recruiter if you have questions in the interim. All interviewed candidates will be notified directly with an interview outcome regardless if they are selected.
If your interview went well, your recruiter will work closely with you on the details (offer approvals, background checks details, compensation, etc.) and if you are selected as the final candidate the recruiter will make a verbal offer to you followed by a written offer.
As you’ve most likely already discovered, Viasat has a comprehensive website with information about our culture, our history and more. Take a few moments to review it; you’ll probably find some interesting facts that will make great conversation starters. We also suggest taking some time to research the department/business you’ll be interviewing with. This will help you to understand the specifics of the team and relay your experiences more relevantly.
In addition, prior to your interview it’s always a good idea to review the job description. Be prepared to talk at length about your resume and experience, as well as professional goals and desires.
We provide relocation assistance for positions that qualify.
