To kick off Lollapalooza and FLOODfest, two music festivals happening this weekend in Chicago, Virgin America teamed up with streaming mega-force Spotify and our team at Viasat to treat passengers to a live in-flight concert at 35,000 feet. The performance by indie rock band Local Natives took place on board “Spotifly” — Virgin America’s newest A320 aircraft, which is outfitted with the latest Viasat in-flight internet system.

The in-flight performance — which happened July 28 aboard a Virgin America flight from Los Angeles International Airport to Chicago O’Hare — was live-streamed and posted to Facebook using our high-speed in-flight internet system. By live-streaming the performance, Local Native music fans and Virgin America enthusiasts on the ground didn’t miss a concert moment. The video performance is nearing 30,000 views, and is available to watch through Monday, August 1, on either the Virgin America or Viasat Facebook pages.

Following the in-flight performance, Virgin America provided passengers with access to free music streaming for the duration of the flight.
