Satellite Systems Analysis, Design, and Development

We can support the planning and operation of your satellite networks and systems in a number of ways, both with off-the-shelf products and custom-developed systems. Our systems engineers and developers have experience in all aspects of satellite system design and implementation:

  • Transmission system design and analysis
  • Architecture development
  • Design evaluation
  • Traffic and protocol modeling
  • Network simulation
  • Terrestrial user interfaces
  • Specification development

See What We Do >> New TSAT Military Satcom System

TSAT (Transformational Satellite) is a new multi-satellite U.S. Department of Defense constellation with first launch scheduled in 2016. Comsat Laboratories has been a key member of the Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman TSAT study team from the inception of the program. Contributions include design, analysis, simulation, and systems engineering.

Now in development, the system is designed to replace the aging MILSTAR system, with a target of increasing satellite capacity by a factor of 100. The TSAT team is relying on Comsat Labs for a number of enabling technologies that will help meet that aggressive goal:

  • End-to-end IPv6 networking
  • Resource allocation onboard the satellite
  • Interoperability with MILSTAR and AEHF systems
  • Onboard packet routing, congestion control, and IP QoS architecture
  • RSVP-based bandwidth reservations
  • XDR+ waveform analysis,
  • Information assurance (IA)
  • Link layer protocol design
  • Terminal implementation architecture
  • Mobile terminals performance improvements
  • TCP acceleration
