100 Mpbs compact IP encryption for mobile, airborne, tactical dismounted, and infrastructure
Carlsbad, Calif. – ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq:VSAT) has received certification from the National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) to add a compact, ruggedized model to its AltaSec® family ofHAIPE® Type 1 Inline Network Encryptors (INE) called the KG-250X. Engineered for extreme mobile mission requirements and small enough to stow in a cargo pocket, the KG-250X packs the cryptographic power to connect warfighters, coalition partners, and other government agencies in secure networks.
The new KG-250X is a HAIPE® IS V3 compliant encryptor that offers these benefits:
- Secure exchange of classified information up to the Top Secret level
- Lowest size, weight, and power 100 Mbps HAIPE® crypto
- Ruggedized to MIL-STD-810F
- Creates secure gateways over un-trusted networks regardless of mission location
- Foreign Interoperability (FI) compliant
- Suite A, Suite B (AES-EFF)
“The KG-250X can secure the exchange of classified information on network infrastructure or in harsh, tactical mounted/dismounted environments,” said Chris Wren, VP and general manager of Information Assurance at ViaSat. “We built the INE that users want now, with the ability to support future advanced networking features. They want it small, low power, and light weight, so it can be used anywhere from an office to tactical operations, with easy setup and operation plus strong product support.”
The KG-250X, like other ViaSat encryption products, is built around the PSIAM™ architecture that provides programmable, low-cost cryptography through its use of commercial off the shelf (COTS) parts. ViaSat is also under contract by the NSA Maryland Procurement Office to upgrade the KG-250X to HAIPE® IS V4. The HAIPE® IS V4 features open up the information assurance market to a much larger population of users.
