Fast AcceleNet performance provides key differentiator from other DVB-S2 system

Carlsbad, CA – ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT) customer Velconet S.A. has initiated an upgrade to the LinkStar®_S2A system to increase bandwidth capacity, reduce networking costs, and provide faster network performance to 800 enterprise sites across Argentina. The new system includes DVB-S2 with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) and AcceleNet® compression and application accelerator software.

The nationwide migration includes a new LinkStar ACM hub in Buenos Aires that implements significant bandwidth savings from industry standard DVB-S2 and ACM satellite technology. However, a key differentiator in the ViaSat satellite networking system is the addition of AcceleNet WAN optimization software, which combines a data compression engine and enterprise security with its patented transport optimization and a broad set of optional application accelerators. The AcceleNet software client detects and adjusts to network conditions and application protocols, in real time, for high performance over networks with limited bandwidth, transmission delay, and high packet loss, including 2G/3G wireless, DSL, and satellite.
