Free software download to thousands of fielded units adds IPV6 and advanced networking features to meet the demands of Type 1 crypto users
Carlsbad, CA – ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq:VSAT) has received certification from the National Security Agency (NSA) for its High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor Interoperability Specification (HAIPE® IS) V3.0.2 for the programmable ViaSat AltaSec® KG-250 Inline Network Encryptor (INE). Through a free software download to all fielded KG-250 units, the HAIPE IS V3 INE adds IPV6, remote management, more automation, and stronger security to its feature set. The KG-250 is a Type 1 multi-suite, INE for communication up to TOP SECRET/SCI, which is compliant with the HAIPE Interoperability Specification and Foreign Interoperability (HAIPE IS-FI) standard used by the U.S. Department of Defense and coalition partners.
The KG-250 is based on the ViaSat PSIAM Cryptosystem which is the key to its unmatched ability to be upgraded and re-programmed in the field, to adapt to changing operational requirements without hardware replacement. Examples include this upgrade to HAIPE IS V3 and the past upgrade to HAIPE IS-FI operation.
Only Crypto with Embedded Acceleration - xPEP
The KG-250 gives tactical users on-the-move the advantage of a very portable, quick-setup, high-throughput node on any IP-capable medium. As the only crypto with embedded network acceleration, the KG-250 provides faster, more dependable performance over high-latency links. The ViaSat eXtreme Performance Enhancing Proxy (xPEP) technology speeds up secure satellite and wireless connections without the need to add extra devices and peripherals to the network. Combined with additional networking features, including remote management through an SNMP interface, Virtual Local Area Networking (VLAN), and on-demand multicast (used in video stream aggregation and distribution), classified users get easy-to-use, full mesh network operation in an intuitively managed package.
ViaSat is also under contract to implement HAIPE IS Version 3.1 (HAIPE IS V3.1), another free software upgrade, which is designed to add HAIPE-to-HAIPE over the air/over the net keying to its KG-250 and KG-255 (Gigabit device) INEs.
