100 Mbps network security with HAIPE®-to-HAIPE® key transfer while minimizing logistics
Carlsbad, Calif. – ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT) received NSA certification for release 2 of its AltaSec ® IPS-250 Inline Network Encryptor (INE), a software-only upgrade for the IPS-250. The new release enables over-the-air and network HAIPE®-to-HAIPE® key transfer and HAIPE IS version 4.1 compliance to minimize the risk of manually rekeying in the field.
Compatible with the new NSA Cryptographic High Value Product (CHVP) Suite B, the Non-COMSEC Controlled Item (Non-CCI) IPS-250 can perform in-band rekey (replace the active key) and out-of-band rekeying (issue keys for later use) over the air or over the network with any HAIPE IS v3.1.2 or v4.1 compliant device.
“Avoiding personal delivery of keys to each network node in high risk and remote locations is a significant new advantage for setting up secure networks,” said Chris Wren, VP and general manager of Information Security at ViaSat. “Many times the users of these networks are in motion, and anything that enables them to manage the network from physically secure locations saves time and makes them safer.”
The IPS-250 is well suited for operations in high risk and unmanned environments requiring Secret and Below protection, including leave-behind and coalition networks. The IPS-250 also enables warfighters and government agencies to create secure networks without the logistics and lifecycle costs associated with handling and accounting for CCI devices.
The IPS-250 encryptor offers these additional benefits:
- 100 Mbps full duplex HAIPE
- Fully compliant with the Foreign Interoperability (FI) specification
- Interoperates with HAIPE IS V3 to V4.1 CCI devices, such as KG-250, KG-255 and KG-250X
- Configurable remote and heartbeat zeroize for unattended operation
