Norcross, GA - With the past year seeing a substantial increase in international business opportunities for its Satellite Ground Systems (SGS) group, ViaSat Inc. has opened a business development office in Europe, located near Malaga, Spain. In addition to Europe the office will provide service to the Middle East, Africa, and India. The new location will enable SGS, ViaSat's large antenna systems business unit, to cater to its European customers in their own time zone. Major SGS customers in the region include EADS Astrium, Telespazio, Swedish Space Corporation, and Marconi Selenia.

To head up the office Phil Lancaster has completed a transfer from the Norcross home office to become Director, European Business Development. Mr. Lancaster, British by birth, has worked for ViaSat SGS (including the former Scientific-Atlanta business unit) for over 15 years. He is responsible for expanding all aspects of SGS business in GEO communications markets as well as full motion LEO antenna applications.
