Duluth, GA ViaSat Inc. has been selected as the network service provider for The Burger King Corporation in North America, providing broadband satellite networking services to BK restaurants in an initiative called Connect Your W@y. The multi-year contract includes installation, network operations, and satellite communication services.
The ViaSat managed service features advanced LinkStar VSAT networking technology, optimizing Burger King communications for fast access transactions, credit/debit/gift card sales, and high-capacity broadband business applications. Initial installations will be targeted to company-owned restaurants, but terminal equipment and service will be available to all North American franchise-owned locations.
"ViaSat and Burger King both have long standing commitments to customer satisfaction. We have focused the network design for Burger King and its need to transmit broadband data and information rapidly and effectively, said Chris Leber, VP and general manager of ViaSat VSAT Networks. When you look at the latest generation of VSATs, our LinkStar system is out in front of the market with multiple product features specifically designed to support the applications that businesses use. We couldnt be happier to have Burger King onboard."
The ViaSat North American satellite service uses the LinkStar system to provide two-way, broadband communications with more efficiency and higher data rates than other satellite networks. Remote LinkStar terminals are capable of receiving data from the shared hub broadcast at up to 60 megabits-per-second (Mbit/s), and transmitting data back to the hub at up to 3.3 Mbit/s. The system dynamically allocates satellite bandwidth on-the-fly to match increases or decreases in data traffic for better service and lower operating costs.
