Virtual Private Networking

Virtual Private Networking

Managing multiple virtual LAN (VLAN) endpoints is a challenge. In these networks, each customer wants and expects a private connection to the “home office” just as they would in a hardwired building. ViaSat Managed Broadband Services can do it for you.

Truly Private VPNs
Our “multi-tenant” VPNs are completely secured from other customers’ services routed by the same VSAT hub and automatically authorize users as they log in and request access to network resources. Each customer can receive their own custom level of privacy and service.

Multiple VPNs on One Terminal
You can even support several end customers from a single satellite terminal, for meeting communication needs in these applications:

  • Office buildings
  • Oilrigs
  • Shopping centers
  • Cyber cafes
  • Ad hoc media, construction industry, or live event networks.

VLAN Tagging Technology
ViaSat LinkStar® VSAT terminals accomplish this “VLAN tagging” of packets by integrating new IEEE 802.1Q protocol extensions and DHCP relay features to interface with standard terrestrial switches and routers, enabling satellite technology to seamlessly interface with IP-MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) VPNs.

Choose On-Demand Networking or Always-on Broadband Services
With ViaSat Virtual Private Networking there is no need to maintain dedicated satellite circuits. Instead, users can access broadband as needed, based on monthly usage and data rate requirements. Or you can choose a plan that gives you always-on connections.
