The success of WildBlue consumer broadband by satellite (now part of ViaSat) is well established. Since service turn-on in 2005, subscriber totals have reached about 400,000. To help this business reach consumer price points, ViaSat was selected to supply its SurfBeam® Ka-band networking system to WildBlue. Together with deliveries to-date, the total SurfBeam terminal count now exceeds 800,000 worldwide, making this product by far the single most popular two-way satellite terminal ever. In December 2009, WildBlue became a part of ViaSat. We're looking forward to accelerating subscriber growth and providing an even better user experience by integrating the service with our new ViaSat-1 high-capacity satellite, which launched in October 2011. The new network also includes our next-generation SurfBeam 2 ground system. New ExedeSM by ViaSat satellite broadband services, boosting speeds from a maximum of 1.5 Mbps all the way up to 12 Mbps, began rolling out across the U.S. in January. |
