Popular Science names ViaSat-1 and Exede one of its “Best of What’s New” for 2012 Creation and launch of ViaSat-1 named the 15th most significant milestone in the satellite industry over the past 25 years through a survey of SSPI membership. 2012 Industry Innovator award from the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) for our high-capacity satellite system, featuring ViaSat-1 Completed nationwide rollout of ExedeSM by ViaSat, the fastest consumer satellite broadband ever, with a baseline 12 Mbps for downloads. |
2011 |
Successfully launched ViaSat-1, the highest capacity satellite in the world. The 140 Gbps satellite offers more total capacity than the combined throughput of all other communication satellites over North America. High-capacity Ka-band satellite communication system selected as a finalist in the Telecommunications category of the Institution of Engineering and Technology 2011 Innovation Awards. Eutelsat KA-SAT, the first satellite to use the new ViaSat high-capacity satellite system design, and SurfBeam 2 ground system enters into service, marking the official beginning of a new-generation of fast, high-performance satellite broadband service. FY11 again establishes a new record for revenues of $802 million. Selected to provide a next-generation Blue Force Tracking system (BFT-2) that can provides faster, more frequent for safer military operations, awards total over $120 million by fiscal year end (4-1-11). Commenced operational performance testing of our next generation SurfBeam® 2 consumer satellite broadband network over KA-SAT, in anticipation of start of Eutelsat Tooway™ commercial services in June 2011. Received inaugural Defense Security Service “Award of Excellence in Counterintelligence.” |
