Core Values

	Open and honest communication	One of the fundamental foundations of our success and culture is a company-wide environment of open and honest communications. This value is not just a belief in honesty, but our way of maintaining an environment where all employees are encouraged to speak up on any topic, providing alternative and innovative ideas that help propel ViaSat forward.
	Common goals and strategy	A significant amount of energy is focused on goals and strategy. First, to develop really great strategies and then to fully communicate these goals and strategies so that employees at all levels can act and make decisions that are in alignment with our overall strategy.
	Solutions from different points of view	In an engineering development environment, there are often multiple ways to meet a challenge, each with a different set of risks, rewards, costs, and schedule. Our project teams openly solicit different points of view where innovation is encouraged, but in a structured review framework where different points of view are respectfully and objectively reviewed, leading ultimately to the best overall solution.
	Effective use of time	From inception, our culture has focused on being efficient and making effective use of time. What this means for our day to day culture is that we (a) have an environment where our employees strive to respond quickly and clearly to what colleagues need, (b) have a respect for each other’s time, and (c) constantly work to establish and improve processes that allow each of us to make the best use of our time.

Throughout the company we have always had a very strong collaborative culture where an employee’s individual contribution is recognized and rewarded in addition to recognizing and rewarding a great “share the credit” environment where the success of project teams are also clearly celebrated.
