Working closely with TSI TelSys Inc., the prime contractor and systems integrator for the station, ViaSat delivered and supported installation of NASA's next generation Ka/S-band ground station. The project wrapped up with the successfully demonstration of the ground system at the Wallops Flight Facility, a NASA center for remote sensing and ground network data distribution.

5.4-meter Ka/S-band Antenna

TSI TelSys Inc. was responsible for deploying the 5.4-meter Ka/S-Band antenna system and radome as well as all of the associated downlink telemetry processing equipment. The station makes use of high data rate technology, which will serve as a baseline for the NASA multi-mission ground stations of the future, and is upgradeable to data rates in excess of 1.0 Gbps.

ViaSat delivered its 5.4-meter Cassegrain antenna system with X/Y pedestal architecture similar to the systems deployed on the Iridium program. Installation at NASA Wallops was preceeded by comprehensive testing of the Ka-band and S-band feeds on our pattern range and the demonstration and testing of the complete system at our boresight range.
